The under 8 Red Tennis team who lost in the semi-finals of the South Wales Indoor Tennis Tournament held at Bridgend leisure centre on Wednesday 16th June 2011. They were Carmathenshire Champions!

Many of our pupils and staff are Swansea City supporters and excitement was running high before half term as the Swans had reached the Play Off Final at Wembley. We were lucky enough to have a visit from the Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers as we are helping him to raise funds for Cancer Research. He is to climb Mt Kilimanjaro on June 10th and is hoping to play a game of football which will be the highest altitude game ever played and so enter the Guiness Book of Records.

The children ( and staff ) were very excited and Mr Rodgers talked to them about why he had taken on the challenge and about the forthcoming game.

The following day was a black and white day and we raised £380.67.

A wonderful effort by all. We wish Brendan every success in this challenge and look forward to seeing him next term as the Swans enter the Premiership.

Many congratulations to Mr Antonio Corbisiero on his success with Llanelli FC. They played Bangor in the Welsh Cup at Parc Y Scarlets winning 4-1. Mr Antonio had a fantastic game and was awarded a well deserved ‘Man of the Match’. It’s the first time for Llanelli to win the cup and what a fantastic way to do it. We were all very proud to have such a star on our staff.

The children had a wonderful day, guests arrived from 9:40 AM and the wedding commenced at 10:00 AM, followed by the wedding breakfast and reception. The wedding party were selected from a hat with Richard Discombe Short representing William and Hannah Hopkins representing Kate, the headteacher Mrs. K. Seward conducted the service. There was a formal dress code for the day and a competition was held for the best hat. The event was organised by Mrs. Van-Hooijdonk and was supported by the P.T.A who presented each child with a commemorative coin.

Pupils from Prep 2 ,3 and 4 took part in a chess tournament against Craig y Nos on Thursday 31st March with both the A and B team finishing as overal winners. Many of the matches were very close but our pupils held their form to win in the end.

The team of Guto Neave, William Wang, Mitri Sharaiha, Benjamin Martin, Tarig Sharaiha, Rahul Premkumar, Gregg Cotter, Zak Giannini, Soham Gadgil, Harvey Murrell Ashworth and Sneha Kumar played extremely well in a very keenly fought tournament with one of the matches going to the adjudicator. Mr Griffiths has clearly done a wonderful job in both Craig y Nos and St Michael’s chess club.

The tournament was hosted by Craig y Nos and Mr Griffiths is planning a rematch mext term. Read more to see extra photos!

Prep 3 and 4  pupils took part in the Llanelli Schools’ Netball Championships and won all of their matches to become this year’s Champions .

The PTA are busy organising our annual Christmas Fayre. We have all the usual stalls , the Headmaster’s auction and many new craft stalls.  All funds raised go to the PTA for us to spend on the children.

On the morning of the fayre the PTA fund a trip to the cinema for the Junior pupils so that the rooms can be prepared.This year we are going to see Despicable Me.

The fayre will start at 1.00 p.m.  and all are welcome .
