The policy of this department, therefore, is to promote the Performing Arts in the school by encouraging practical participation wherever possible, by developing the importance of the Arts in all aspects of life.By offering a wide range of opportunities for performance, we try to raise the self-esteem of our pupils and improve social development. We aim to nurture an interest and understanding which will remain with the pupils throughout life, whatever their chosen career. - Nursery, Reception and Pre Preps
Nursery, Reception and Pre Preps
Nursery and Reception receive one lesson of class music per week where they explore all the musical elements of song, movement, rhythm and sounds in a fun and stimulating class.
Pre Preps have two lessons per week; one music class building on the skills learn in Nursery and Reception and one singing class to encourage group and solo singing.During the Christmas term, Nursery, Reception and Pre Preps have a additional double singing session each week to prepare for the Preparatory School Christmas Concert. - Preps 1 – 4

All Prep classes receive one lesson of music and one singing lesson per week. Music lessons develop their skills further in rhythm, music elements, theory and include class performing and improvising. The singing lessons encourage group and solo performing further.During the Spring term, all Preps have an additional double singing session each week to prepare for the Preparatory School Show. - Performing Opportunities

Preparatory School Ensembles
As well as class music, there are a number of additional groups for pupils who wish have a further involvement in the Musical life of the school.
Prep String Group
The Preparatory School String Group rehearses on Wednesday lunchtimes with Mr Hughes, the String peripatetic teacher. The group performs in the Annual Christmas and Summer Concerts in the Senior School as well as in their own Christmas Concert.
Prep Wind Group
The Preparatory School Wind Group rehearses on Thursday lunchtimes with Mrs Nicholas, the Senior School Music teacher. The group performs in the Annual Christmas and Summer Concerts in the Senior School as well as in their own Christmas Concert.Prep Concert Choir
The Preparatory School Concert Choir rehearses on Monday lunchtimes with Mr Spencer, the Head of Expressive Arts. The group performs in the Annual Christmas Concert in the Senior School and well as in their own Christmas Concert, and have also performed in concerts out of school with local music and drama groups.
Dance
Over the last two years we have had the benefit of Peripatetic Dance teachers who run dance sessions (hip hop and street dance) as an activity for Junior pupils and ballet for our younger pupils.
